For my leadership initiative, I organized STEM outreach activities for my program - Electronics Engineering Technology. There were two streams of activities that I was involved in:
- I am a representative of my program/cluster for STEM outreach events. From May 2017 to June 2018, I have designed and delivered several workshops for elementary and secondary students who participate in programs offered by the Community Outreach and Workforce Development office at Humber.
- I have been a mentor for two consecutive years at the Skills Ontario - Young Women's conference, 2017 and 2018. This event is attended by several hundred female school students from across Ontario. As a mentor representing women in skilled trades and technology, I have coordinated a trade show booth at the event actively involving my colleagues and students. In 2018, I worked with another mentor from a different school to set up our booths together and present a stronger case for girls considering technology as their career choice.
